Bilateral relations

Bilateral relations between Latvian Republic and the Republic of Paraguay.

Relations between Latvian Republic and the Republic of Paraguay (Spanish: República del Paraguay) are friendly and constructive, but because of geographic distance, it has hampered deepening between them.The most active cooperation is taking place within international organizations.

Joining the European Union, Latvia joined the European Union's cooperation with Paraguay dialogue within the European Union and Mercosur dialogue.

History of Diplomatic Relations:

Latvian independence of the Republic Paraguay held on 1 April 1992, and diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1992, on 3 June.

From 6 September 2005 to 1 July 2009, in Latvia was accredited the first Ambassador of the Republic of Paraguay- Lilianne Lebron-Vengers (Lilianne Lebron-Wenger) with residence in Berlin, Germany.

From 30 October 2012 to 15 December 2013 the Ambassador of Paraguay in Latvia Raul Florentins (Raúl Alberto Florentin Antola).

Latvia does not have an agreement with Paraguay. Paraguay has stated that Latvian citizens can enter and stay in Paraguay till 90 days in six months without a visa.

2015 total trade turnover amounted to 13.96 million EUR (62 place), which is 22.68% more than in 2014

The volume of exports to Paraguay amounted to 13.90 million EUR, an increase of 22.62%, or 2.56 million EUR more than in 2014.

The volume of imports from Paraguay amounted to 58 thousand euro, an increase of 38.61% or 16.3 thousand EUR more than in 2014.

Latvia with Paraguay has a positive trade balance of 13.84 million EUR.
